The Film Files: Vol.5
Volume 5
Filmstock: Kodak Ektar 100 35mm
Camera: Canon A2e
Lens: Canon 50mm f/1.8 EF
The current iteration of Kodak’s Ektar 100 is one of the newest films developed. Released in 2008 this filmstock is the most saturated color film on the market. It thrives outdoors and makes colors pop, I feel like it most closely matches my photography style and the way I see the world.
Yours truly trying to stay warm as sun sets in the desert. Photo shot by Adam Pawlikiewicz
This roll was mainly shot while traveling to Colorado to work on a project for Salsa Cycles.
Passing by the this abandoned gas station near the Zia Pueblo on the way out of town. I don't know the back story but it’s one of those places that beckons to be photographed.
Does anyone know the story of the “Big Chief” station sitting on the edge of the Sierra Nacimiento mountain range off highway 550?
Pay phone out of order.
From there it was off to Colorado’s western slope and Canon City, seeking sun to shoot bikes in February.

A few days of shooting bikes in the desert with Jalen and Adam directing the show.
Blue on Blue with Leonardo
It was great to meet Leonardo! He’s a talented photographer who was mainly on the other side of the lens for this project.
Shooters gonna shoot.
While Kodak Portra is know for it’s perfect colors of fair skin tones, I noticed that several people mentioned that Etkar is much better suited for those with darker skin tones. I found this to be very true and love how I look in the photo by Adam.

This photo of Brooke provides further evidence that Ektar would be my go-to film for models with some melanin.
Brooke orders pizza.
I love the rich colors and grain of Ektar but don’t think it would be my daily driver due to the 100 ISO and red color shifts.
Jalen vibes!
Focus.
Dreaming of pizza.
Looking through this roll I realize how many portraits I’ve shot. There’s typically people in my photos but I’ve never categorized myself as a portrait photographer. There seems to be something about shooting film that forces me to focus more on faces.
Cameo by Abi and the pets!
Back home with Char!
Thanks for stopping by. Until Next time cheers!
